And thanks to the movie, the song became a staple at all Indian weddings.

5. Band Baaja Baaraat brought the wedding planners to the forefront!

And since then, the business of wedding planners has been booming.

6. Every Indian bride takes inspiration from the movie Jodha Akbar while zeroing down her wedding set.

The film rekindled our love for ‘Kundan’ neckpieces and 'Jadau' jewellery.

7. Kal Ho Na Ho gave the idea of the entire family 'performing' on one of the functions.

Suddenly, everyone's parents wanted their own personalized 'G..U..J..J..U' song.

8. Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani  popularised the whole concept of a destination wedding.

After the movie, everyone wanted to get married in Udaipur.

9. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara not only took the whole bachelor party to the next level, but also brought in the whole concept of living your life to the fullest.

Things like sky-diving became the number one item on every soon-to-be-married person's list.

10. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, a cult film, was one of the first in its genre to denounce the concept of an arranged marriage and was pro-love!

Step-by-step guide to kick start a conversation with a girl whose matrimonial profile you like

conversationThe thought of talking to a girl for the first time and kick starting a conversation often leave boys nervous.
No one wants to create a bad first impression and lose out on that pretty girl you would like to know more about. Also, there are few points a guy needs to keep in mind when you are approaching a girl on a matrimonial site whose profile you like.
Questions like, how to tell a girl that you like her profile and would like to take the conversation further; or how to sound genuine and create a good first impression when approaching someone for matrimony; are quite common.
Here we tell you some of the easy tips that will help you start a conversation and take it to another level with your favourite match on SimplyMarry.com.
1) Review the profile of the girl carefully before sending a message
Approaching a girl generally and approaching someone for marriage are two different things. When you are on a life partner search, casually contacting any random girl just because you like her picture might not be a wise idea. Your first step before kick starting a conversation should be to know her better. So, go through her profile carefully and if you like it send her a message using our FREE messaging service.
2) Your first message can make or break your chance of getting a reply from her
In online matrimony, your first message is what will create or spoil your image in the eyes of your prospective match. Therefore, it is very important to choose your words intelligently, without sounding creepy or boring at the same time. Words like ‘hot’ and ‘sexy’ are a big No-No. Also, never write “I want to marry you” in your first message. No girl would entertain your message if you write that. You message should tell her that you like her profile and you are seriously interested to know more about her.
3) No personal question should be asked in your first message
One thing where people seriously go wrong when searching a life partner on a matrimonial site is when they start asking “personal” questions too early. I’m not asking you to marry anyone without knowing every possible detail about them, all I’m saying is there’s always a right time of asking that extra-personal question which the other person might not be comfortable answering at the first go. Questions like – How many boyfriends have you had in the past? Do you go out clubbing at night? Do you smoke? Do you drink? You ask these questions in your first message and then don’t expect any reply from anyone, for sure.
4) Right way of drafting a decent first message
As I mentioned earlier, writing the first message can be a tricky task, therefore to help you out we give you a step-by-step guide of writing that perfect first message when approaching a girl on SimplyMarry.com.
a) Start by greeting the other person
Always start your message with a ‘Hi’ or ‘Hello’. An abrupt start without any greetings might look rude.
b) Strike a balance between being formal and informal
When drafting your first message you need to strike the perfect balance between being formal and informal. Remember, you are not writing an official message/mail, therefore please do not refer the girl with ‘Ma’am’ or ‘Madam’. No one would want to be addressed like that from her prospective match. Also referring her ‘Sweety’, ‘Diva’ or ‘Beautiful’ would make you appear cheesy and she might block you too.
The correct approach is addressing the person with their first name.
c) Make sure you give a nice, decent compliment, supported with a fact
A nice compliment, given in a right way is always appreciated by girls. But always make sure to support your compliment with a genuine fact to appear more believable.
For example:
“I went through your profile and I like your passion for your work. I would like to know more about you.”
OR
“I went through your profile and noticed your love for cooking in your free time. I feel to be able to strike a balance between your professional and personal life is really appreciable. I like your profile and would like to take the conversation further with you.”
d) Also tell her what kind of partner are you looking at
To create an impression of a sensible guy make sure to tell her what are the some of the important point you are looking at in your life partner and why you think she fits in that frame.
Remember to highlight the qualities of your preferred partner, rather then going gaga about her.
For example:
“I have always wanted to marry a girl who is passionate about her job and I went through your profile and saw how focused you are with the job at hand. I really appreciate that and would like to know more about you.”
e) Don’t forget to share your contact details
At the end, don’t forget to share your contact details – phone number and email id – so that if the girl likes your profile, she can easily contact you.
